AWS Adds Scope 3 and Scope 1 to Carbon Footprint Tool

🌍 The AWS Customer Carbon Footprint Tool now reports Scope 3 emissions alongside Scope 1 natural gas and refrigerant data, giving customers more complete visibility into cloud-related carbon impacts. Historical Scope 3 data is available back to January 2022 and can be accessed through the CCFT dashboard and AWS Billing and Cost Management data exports. These updates extend CCFT coverage to all three scopes defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and help customers integrate carbon insights into operational workflows, sustainability planning, and reporting.

🔔 Amazon released quarterly security and critical updates for Amazon Corretto LTS builds on October 21, 2025, providing new binaries for Corretto 25.0.1, 21.0.9, 17.0.17, 11.0.29 and 8u472. The distributions for Generic Linux, Alpine and macOS now include Async-Profiler, a low‑overhead sampling profiler that captures CPU, heap and native allocations, contention and hardware/software counters. Microsoft Removes Additional Safeguard Holds for Windows 11

✅ Microsoft removed two safeguard holds blocking Windows 11 24H2 installs. The April hold affecting systems using SenseShield's sprotect.sys driver—which could trigger BSODs—was lifted after a security.sys driver update; the feature update will be offered within 48 hours. The September 2024 hold for wallpaper customization apps that caused display and virtual-desktop issues was removed on October 15, 2025; affected devices may see a warning and must confirm before upgrading.
