🔁 EC2 Image Builder now supports automatic versioning for recipes and automatic build version increments for components, removing the need to manually manage version numbers. You can place an 'x' placeholder to auto-increment any position in a recipe version and use wildcard patterns to resolve to the highest compatible version in pipelines. The feature is available across all AWS regions, including China and GovCloud, and is accessible via Console, CLI, API, CloudFormation, and CDK.

🚀 EC2 Image Builder now supports invoking AWS Lambda functions and executing Step Functions state machines directly within image workflows. This native integration lets teams embed custom logic, multi-step orchestration, and validation into image builds without bespoke glue code. It simplifies compliance checks, notifications, and multi-stage security testing while reducing maintenance and error-prone workarounds. The capabilities are available at no additional cost across all AWS regions, including China and GovCloud, and can be used via Console, CLI, API, CloudFormation, or CDK.

EC2 Image Builder: Pipeline Auto-Disable and Custom Logs

⚙️ EC2 Image Builder pipelines can now be automatically disabled after a configurable number of consecutive failures, and you can assign custom log groups with retention and encryption settings to meet organizational policies. This prevents unnecessary resource creation and repeated failed builds, reducing costs and operational noise. These capabilities are available at no extra charge across all AWS commercial regions and are usable via Console, CLI, API, CloudFormation, or CDK.
