AWS expands Graviton4 EC2 C8gd, M8gd, R8gd regions

🚀 Amazon EC2 C8gd instances are now available in Europe (London) and Canada (Central), while M8gd and R8gd sizes have expanded to South America (Sao Paulo) and Europe (London), respectively. Powered by AWS Graviton4, these instances deliver up to 30% better performance versus Graviton3 and offer up to 11.4 TB NVMe local storage and EFA on select sizes. Customers can also adjust network and EBS bandwidth by 25% via instance bandwidth weighting.

OpenSearch Service Adds Graviton4 EC2 Instance Support

🚀 Amazon OpenSearch Service now supports Graviton4-based EC2 instance families — compute-optimized C8g, general-purpose M8g, and memory-optimized R8g/R8gd — across multiple regions. Graviton4 processors deliver up to 30% better performance compared with Graviton3 and are supported on all OpenSearch versions as well as Elasticsearch 7.9 and 7.10. The change is intended to improve price-performance for compute-, general-, and memory-intensive search and analytics workloads.

🚀 AWS announced that Amazon EC2 M8g instances, powered by Graviton4 processors, are now available in Europe (Paris), Asia Pacific (Osaka), Canada (Central), and the Middle East (Bahrain). The M8g family delivers up to 30% better performance versus Graviton3-based instances and offers larger sizes with up to 3× more vCPUs and memory. Built on the AWS Nitro System, these instances provide enhanced networking and EBS bandwidth for general-purpose workloads such as application servers, microservices, gaming servers, and caching fleets.

Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL Adds R8g Instances in New Regions

⚡ Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL now supports Graviton4-based R8g DB instances in AWS Canada (Central), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and Asia Pacific (Seoul). R8g offers larger sizes up to 48xlarge with an 8:1 memory-to-vCPU ratio and DDR5 memory, including new 24xlarge and 48xlarge options delivering up to 192 vCPUs, up to 50 Gbps networking, and up to 40 Gbps EBS bandwidth. AWS reports up to 40% performance and up to 29% price/performance improvements over Graviton3 equivalents, varying by engine, version, and workload. You can launch or upgrade instances through the Amazon RDS console or AWS CLI with a simple instance type modification.

Instances offer up to 50 Gbps networking, EFA on larger sizes, and adjustable network/EBS bandwidth weighting to better optimize workloads.

🚀 Amazon EC2 M8gd instances with up to 11.4 TB of local NVMe SSD storage are now available in Europe (London), Asia Pacific (Sydney, Malaysia), and Canada (Central). Powered by AWS Graviton4, they deliver up to 30% better compute performance than Graviton3-based instances, up to 40% higher I/O performance for databases, and up to 20% faster real-time analytics queries. Instances come in 12 sizes, offer up to 50 Gbps networking and 40 Gbps EBS bandwidth, support EFA on large sizes, and allow ±25% adjustment of network and EBS bandwidth via EC2 instance bandwidth weighting.
