MXDR for SMBs: Practical, Partnered Security Solution

🛡️ Small and medium-sized businesses often find enterprise-grade MXDR solutions overwhelming; instead, they need a partnered approach that builds internal expertise while delivering managed detection and response. The ideal MXDR for SMBs is adaptive to maturity, reduces false positives through tailored rules, offers transparent incident reporting and dashboards, and provides threat intelligence and targeted employee training. Kaspersky's Next MXDR Optimum exemplifies this model by combining expert-led support, accessible XDR tools, and role-specific training to foster a security culture.

How to Scrub and Minimize Your Digital Footprint Effectively

🔍 Regularly search for yourself—names, emails and usernames—to uncover forgotten accounts, impersonators, and exposed data. Delete obsolete accounts, revoke third‑party access, clear browser and device traces, and use unique passwords stored in a reliable manager. Use tools like Just Delete Me and breach monitors such as Have I Been Pwned, invoke your right to be forgotten where applicable, and request archive removals. Tighten app permissions, unsubscribe from old lists, and consider privacy‑focused services or stronger 'paranoid' measures if needed.

ML-Based DLL Hijacking Detection Integrated into SIEM

🛡️ Kaspersky developed a machine-learning model to detect DLL hijacking, a technique where attackers replace or sideload dynamic-link libraries so legitimate processes execute malicious code. The model inspects metadata such as file paths, renaming, size, structure and digital signatures, trained on internal analysis and anonymized KSN telemetry. Implemented in the Kaspersky Unified Monitoring and Analysis Platform, it flags suspicious loads and cross-checks cloud reputation to reduce false positives and support retrospective hunting.

Kaspersky adds notification anti-phishing for Android

🔒 Kaspersky has added a Notification Protection layer to Kaspersky for Android that detects and blocks malicious links embedded in app notifications. The feature automatically hides suspected links and replaces them with a Kaspersky notice titled 'Dangerous link detected,' preserving the original text minus the link. Kaspersky says scanning is automated and no employee reads private messages. Users must enable Accessibility and notification permissions and can combine this with Safe Messaging and Safe Browsing for fuller protection.

When to Consider XDR: Addressing EDR Limitations & Response

🔒 Many small and mid-sized businesses adopted EDR to address growing threats, but alert overload and limited context can overwhelm security teams. Kaspersky Next XDR Optimum groups related alerts, enables bulk responses, and lets operators block compromised users in Active Directory directly from alert cards. It also integrates a cloud sandbox for file analysis and embeds targeted security awareness training assignable from the alert. For teams struggling with volume or lacking context, migrating from EDR to XDR can improve containment and reduce response time without major redeployment.
