AWS OpenSearch Service adds PPL and natural language

🔍 Amazon OpenSearch Service now makes Piped Processing Language (PPL) and natural language the default experience in the OpenSearch UI Observability workspace. The release introduces 35+ new commands for deep analysis, faceted exploration, and natural-language querying, and integrates OpenTelemetry ingestion pipelines to simplify onboarding. Users can run enterprise-grade queries, correlate events, and move directly from query to visualization to reduce mean time to detect and resolve issues.

Amazon ECS Service Connect Adds Envoy Access Logs Support

🔍 Amazon ECS Service Connect now captures per-request telemetry with Envoy access logs to improve visibility into service-to-service traffic for tracing, debugging, and compliance. Access logging is enabled via the ServiceConnectConfiguration and emits Envoy logs to STDOUT alongside application logs, flowing through the existing ECS log pipeline without extra infrastructure. Query strings are redacted by default and the feature supports HTTP, HTTP/2, gRPC, and TCP protocols. The capability is available in all regions where Service Connect is supported.

Amazon CloudWatch Adds Tag-Based Telemetry for Metrics

🔍 Amazon CloudWatch introduces tag-based telemetry so teams can monitor metrics and configure alarms using existing AWS resource tags. This lets DevOps and cloud administrators build dynamic monitoring views that follow organizational tagging, automatically adapting as resources change. Tag-based query filtering cuts manual dashboard and alarm updates, and can be enabled with one click or via the AWS CLI and SDKs.
