These instances use custom Intel Xeon 6 processors exclusive to AWS and deliver up to 15% better price‑performance and 2.5× more memory bandwidth versus prior Intel‑based generations. R8i targets large, memory‑intensive workloads with 13 sizes (including two bare‑metal and a new 96xlarge) and SAP certification at 142,100 aSAPS, while R8i‑flex offers common memory‑optimized sizes from large to 16xlarge for cost-efficient right‑sizing.

🚀 AWS announced that AWS Transfer Family is now available in the Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region, supporting SFTP, FTP, FTPS and AS2 for managed file transfers. 🤖 OpenAI is deploying a specialized GPT-5 Codex model across its Codex instances, including Terminal, IDE extensions, and Codex Web. 🚀 AWS has made the new Amazon EC2 R8gn instances generally available, built on AWS Graviton4 processors to deliver up to 30% better compute performance than Graviton3. R8gn instances include 6th generation Nitro Cards and offer up to 600 Gbps network bandwidth—the highest among network-optimized EC2 instances—and sizes up to 48xlarge with metal options. They provide up to 1,536 GiB memory, up to 60 Gbps EBS bandwidth, and support Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) on select large and metal sizes for lower latency cluster performance.

This fully managed service simplifies render management for teams producing computer-generated graphics and visual effects, enabling them to scale render farms near creative teams. Customers gain improved integration with existing AWS services and creative pipelines, and can now deploy Deadline Cloud across 10 AWS regions worldwide. Bringing the service closer reduces latency and streamlines collaboration across distributed production workflows.

🎉 Microsoft announced that, starting today, individual Windows developers can publish applications to the Microsoft Store without paying registration fees. The policy covers Win32 (including .NET WPF and WinForms), UWP, PWA, .NET MAUI, and Electron apps; Microsoft will host MSIX-packaged binaries, sign apps for free, and pay for distribution so developers don't need their own CDN. Developers of non-gaming apps may also implement their own in-app payment systems and retain all revenue. To publish, creators sign in with a personal Microsoft account and must verify identity with a government ID and a selfie; no credit card is required.

🚀 GKE Inference Gateway and GKE Inference Quickstart are now generally available, bringing production-ready inferencing features built on AI Hypercomputer. 🛒 Google Cloud announced general availability of the Conversational Commerce agent on Vertex AI, a shopping-focused conversational assistant designed to guide customers from intent to purchase. The agent uses Gemini to interpret complex queries, supports context retention across sessions and devices, and offers administrative controls to boost, bury, or restrict products. Albertsons Cos. reports increased basket size in early use. Onboarding is presented as quick with minimal development effort via the Vertex AI console.

📷 Google announced Pixel 10 phones will embed C2PA Content Credentials in every photo captured by the native Pixel Camera and display verification in Google Photos. The Pixel Camera app achieved Assurance Level 2 by combining Tensor G5, the certified Titan M2 security chip, and Android hardware-backed attestation. A privacy-first model uses anonymous enrollment, a strict no-logging policy, and a one-time certificate-per-image strategy to prevent linking. Pixel 10 also supports an on-device trusted timestamping mechanism so credentials remain verifiable offline.

🚀 Amazon Redshift Serverless is now generally available in the AWS Europe (Milan) and Africa (Cape Town) regions. With Redshift Serverless, users—data analysts, developers, and data scientists—can run analytics without provisioning or managing clusters, benefiting from automatic provisioning, intelligent scaling, and per-second compute billing. You can query data via Query Editor V2 or existing BI tools, load data from Amazon S3 (including Apache Parquet), use Redshift data shares, restore provisioned snapshots, and take advantage of unified billing for queries across these sources.

🛡️ AWS WAF is now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region, allowing customers to deploy web application firewall protections closer to their users. The service helps protect web applications from common exploits and automated bots that can affect availability, security, or resource consumption. Note that AWS WAF Bot Control with targeted inspection and the Anti-DDoS managed rule group are not currently available in this region.

🔍 Amazon EC2 today announced AMI Usage, a new capability to track AMI consumption across AWS accounts and resources. It generates reports listing accounts that use your AMIs in EC2 instances and launch templates and shows utilization across instances, launch templates, Image Builder recipes, and SSM parameters. This reduces the need for custom scripts, helps safely manage AMI deregistrations, and supports cost optimization. AMI Usage is available at no additional cost in all AWS regions, including China and GovCloud.

🌐 Amazon Neptune now supports Public Endpoints, enabling developers to connect to Neptune clusters directly from development desktops without VPNs, bastion hosts, or complex network setups. The capability can be enabled for new or existing clusters running engine version 1.4.6 or later via the AWS Console, CLI, or SDK. Security is maintained using IAM authentication, VPC security groups, and encryption in transit. The feature is available at no additional cost in all Regions where Neptune is offered.

🌐 AWS announced a new AWS Direct Connect location at East African Data Centres NBO1 near Nairobi, Kenya. The site is the first Direct Connect location in Kenya and offers dedicated 10 Gbps and 100 Gbps connections with MACsec encryption available. From this location customers can establish private, physical connections to all public AWS Regions (except China), AWS GovCloud Regions, and AWS Local Zones, providing a more consistent network experience than the public internet.

🛠️ Anthropic is rolling out a research preview of a web-based Claude Code, bringing its terminal-focused coding assistant into the browser at Claude.ai/code. The web preview requires installing the GitHub Claude app on a repository and committing a "Claude Dispatch" GitHub workflow file before use, with optional email and web notifications for updates. Claude Code—already available in terminals and integrated editors under paid plans—can inspect codebases to help fix bugs, test features, simplify Git tasks, and automate workflows. It remains unclear whether the terminal and web versions can access or share the same repository content or usage data.
