Microsoft releases KB5068781 — first Windows 10 ESU update
🔔 Microsoft released KB5068781, the first Extended Security Update (ESU) for Windows 10 following the platform's end of support. The update fixes a bug that incorrectly reported LTSC devices as out of support and bundles October Patch Tuesday fixes. It addresses 63 vulnerabilities — including one actively exploited elevation-of-privilege flaw — and is mandatory for enrolled devices, installing via Settings → Windows Update and updating ESU and LTSC builds to 19045.6575/19044.6575.

Microsoft emergency Windows 10 update fixes ESU enrollment
🔧Microsoft released an out‑of‑band update (KB5071959) to address a Windows 10 Consumer ESU enrollment failure that could cause the ESU wizard to abort. Once the update is installed and the device is rebooted, affected systems should be able to complete ESU enrollment and resume receiving Extended Security Updates via Windows Update. Microsoft flagged the patch as a security update for non‑enrolled devices to restore access to essential fixes.

Still on Windows 10? Enroll in Free ESU Before Patch Tuesday
🛡️ If you’re still running Windows 10, enroll in Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program before the next Patch Tuesday to continue receiving security fixes. Consumers can get one year of ESU for free by signing into a Microsoft account and enabling Windows settings backup, or alternatively pay $30 or redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points. Enrollment is available via Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and should confirm coverage through October 13, 2026.

Windows 11 Build 26220.7051 Adds Ask Copilot Taskbar
🖥️ Windows 11 Build 26220.7051 introduces a taskbar-based Ask Copilot, allowing testers to query the web, local files, and AI using text or voice. Windows 11 Build 26220.7051 Adds Ask Copilot and More
🗞️ Windows 11 Build 26220.7051 is rolling out to Insiders and introduces three headline features: a taskbar-based Ask Copilot, a new full-screen Xbox experience for handhelds, and Bluetooth Shared audio. Ask Copilot lets users search the internet, local files, and AI using text or voice and can be enabled via Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Ask Copilot. The new full-screen experience (FSE) aims to prioritize gaming on compatible handheld devices and can be set under Settings > Gaming > Full screen experience. Additionally, Windows now supports sharing audio to two Bluetooth devices and improves ARM PC performance by expanding x64 emulation support.

Microsoft fixes 0x800F081F Windows Update failures
🔧 Microsoft has resolved a known issue that caused Windows updates to fail with error code 0x800F081F on Windows 11 24H2 devices. The problem affected systems that installed the KB5050094 January 2025 preview cumulative update and subsequent updates, and Microsoft traced the failures to missing language packs and feature payloads removed by ACR/MCR cleanup. Microsoft acknowledged the issue on October 15 and fixed it in the KB5067036 October 2025 preview update. Administrators who cannot install the optional preview immediately can perform an In‑Place Upgrade via Windows installation media or the Settings > System > Recovery workflow to restore missing components without losing files or apps.

Windows 11 KB5067036 Preview Adds Administrator Protection
🔒 Microsoft has released the KB5067036 preview cumulative update for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, introducing the new Administrator Protection feature alongside a refreshed Start menu. Administrator Protection requires users to verify identity with Windows Hello before permitting actions that require administrative privileges; it is off by default and can be enabled via OMA-URI in Microsoft Intune or Group Policy.
