🚀Amazon Web Services has launched EC2 C7i-flex instances in the Middle East (UAE), offering up to 19% better price performance versus C6i. Powered by AWS-exclusive 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) custom processors and priced about 5% below C7i, these instances cover common sizes from large through 16xlarge. They target web and application servers, caches, databases, Apache Kafka, Elasticsearch and other compute-intensive workloads that don’t fully utilize all vCPUs. For sustained heavy-CPU needs or very large configurations, customers can continue to use standard C7i instances.

🚀 Amazon Web Services has added High Memory U7i instances to AWS GovCloud, offering 12TiB (u7i-12tb.224xlarge) and 16TiB (u7in-16tb.224xlarge) in GovCloud (US-West) and 24TiB (u7in-24tb.224xlarge) in GovCloud (US-East). These 7th‑generation instances use custom 4th‑generation Intel Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) processors, provide 896 vCPUs and DDR5 memory, and support ENA Express. The u7i-12tb delivers up to 100Gbps network and EBS throughput while the 16tb and 24tb variants deliver up to 200Gbps, making them well suited for mission‑critical in‑memory databases like SAP HANA, Oracle, and SQL Server.

🧠 AWS has announced general availability of new Amazon EC2 R8a memory-optimized instances powered by 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors (Turin) with up to 4.5 GHz. R8a delivers up to 30% higher performance, up to 19% better price-performance and 45% more memory bandwidth versus R7a. Available in 12 sizes (including 2 bare metal) and SAP-certified, R8a targets latency-sensitive, memory-intensive workloads and supports Savings Plans, On-Demand and Spot purchasing.

🛠️ AWS Launch Wizard now provides a guided workflow to size, configure, and deploy Windows Server EC2 instances with Microsoft SQL Server Developer Edition installed from your own media. The capability simplifies provisioning cost-effective, full-featured SQL Server instances on Amazon EC2 and is aimed at developers building non-production and test database environments. It supports customers migrating non-production databases from SQL Server Enterprise and Standard Editions to reduce licensing costs while preserving feature parity, and is available in all supported commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.

🚀 Starting today, AWS lets you add warm pools to EC2 Auto Scaling groups (ASGs) that use mixed instances policies. Warm pools maintain a set of pre-initialized EC2 instances that can rapidly serve traffic, reducing scale‑out latency for workloads with lengthy initialization tasks like large disk writes or complex scripts. The capability supports manual instance type lists and attribute-based selection, and is available via the Console, SDKs, and CLI in all public AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US). Combining warm pools with instance type flexibility helps ASGs scale to their maximum size quickly while improving availability across multiple instance types.

🚀 AWS has announced general availability of the Amazon EC2 Capacity Reservation Topology API, providing a hierarchical, per-account view of the relative location of capacity reservations for AI/ML and HPC workloads. The API represents reservations as a network node set so customers can assess proximity without launching instances. Paired with the Instance Topology API, it enables consistent job scheduling, capacity planning, and node ranking across distributed parallel workloads and is available in most major AWS regions.

These instances use 5th-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and 3rd-generation AWS Nitro SSDs to deliver up to 23% better compute performance and more than 10% better price performance versus prior I4i instances, along with up to 45 TB of NVMe local storage. I7i is offered in eleven sizes (nine virtual up to 48xlarge and two bare metal) with up to 100 Gbps network and 60 Gbps EBS bandwidth, and supports torn write prevention up to 16KB to reduce database bottlenecks for I/O-intensive, latency-sensitive workloads.

🚀 Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances are now available in Europe (London), powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors exclusive to AWS. AWS reports up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth versus previous Intel-based generations, and up to 20% higher performance compared to R7i for many workloads. R8i-flex introduces memory-optimized Flex sizing (large through 16xlarge) for applications that do not fully utilize compute, while R8i offers 13 sizes including two bare-metal options and a new 96xlarge and is SAP-certified. Instances can be purchased via On-Demand, Savings Plans or Spot.

I7ie instances, powered by 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors and 3rd-generation AWS Nitro SSDs, are designed for large storage I/O–intensive workloads and offer up to 120 TB of local NVMe, higher vCPU and memory densities, and up to 100 Gbps network bandwidth. AWS cites up to 40% better compute performance and 20% better price performance versus I3en, along with substantial improvements in storage throughput, latency, and latency variability for low-latency, high-random I/O use cases.

⚙️ AWS has expanded Predictive Scaling for EC2 Auto Scaling to six additional regions: Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), Asia Pacific (Melbourne), Israel (Tel Aviv), Canada West (Calgary), Europe (Spain), and Europe (Zurich). Predictive Scaling learns from historical patterns and launches instances ahead of anticipated demand to reduce over-provisioning, lower EC2 costs, and keep applications responsive. It complements real-time policies like Target Tracking and Simple Scaling and can be previewed using a "Forecast Only" mode. The feature is available via the console, AWS CLI, CloudFormation, and AWS SDKs.

🔍 Amazon announced that VPC Reachability Analyzer and VPC Network Access Analyzer are now available in AWS GovCloud (US-West) and AWS GovCloud (US-East). Reachability Analyzer diagnoses network paths between source and destination resources in VPCs to identify misconfigurations such as missing route table entries across accounts. Network Access Analyzer finds unintended access paths by letting you define scopes to ensure traffic traverses required controls, for example verifying web app traffic goes through a firewall. 🔔 Amazon introduced two new Amazon CloudWatch instance-level metrics — Instance EBS IOPS Exceeded Check and Instance EBS Throughput Exceeded Check — that flag when the driven IOPS or throughput exceeds the EBS-Optimized limits of an EC2 instance. Each metric returns 0 (not exceeded) or 1 (exceeded), enabling rapid identification of I/O bottlenecks and the creation of dashboards or alarms. These metrics are provided by default at a 1-minute frequency at no additional charge for Nitro-based EC2 instances with EBS attached and are accessible via the EC2 console, CLI, or CloudWatch API across Commercial, GovCloud (US), and China Regions.

C7i-flex covers common sizes from large to 16xlarge and is intended for compute-intensive workloads that don’t fully utilize all vCPUs; customers with continuous high CPU usage or needs for very large sizes (up to 192 vCPUs and 384 GiB) should consider full-size C7i instances.

The tool provides dashboards and drilldowns for On-Demand, Spot, and Capacity Reservations, historical trends, optimization recommendations, and exportable data for integration. Available in all commercial AWS Regions at no additional cost.

🚀 Amazon OpenSearch Service now supports Graviton4-based EC2 instance families — compute-optimized C8g, general-purpose M8g, and memory-optimized R8g/R8gd — across multiple regions. Graviton4 processors deliver up to 30% better performance compared with Graviton3 and are supported on all OpenSearch versions as well as Elasticsearch 7.9 and 7.10. The change is intended to improve price-performance for compute-, general-, and memory-intensive search and analytics workloads.
